Carhaulers Will Vote on New Contract

Teamster carhaulers united against concessions. Now they will vote on a new contract that includes work preservation protections that Hoffa tried to give away.

“This is still not the contract that members deserve, but by sticking together carhaulers have defeated the worst of the concessions,” said Fred Zuckerman.

“The wage cuts are gone.  The work preservation language is restored. Article 48 is restored in the Central. Hoffa didn’t do that. The members did,” Zuckerman said.

Two times, Teamster carhaulers voted to reject sellout deals cut by the Hoffa administration that would have gutted the contract.

“Carhaulers have demonstrated the power that members have to defeat givebacks when we stick together,” said Fred Zuckerman.

With a leadership that fights for the members instead of against the members, we could have won a much better contract.

Fred Zuckerman will be joined on the call by Central Region Vice Presidents-elect Bill Frisky and Avral Thompson and by John Thyer, the principal officer of St. Louis Local 604.

Ballots will be mailed out to members on March 10 and are scheduled to be counted on March 30.
