The first General Executive Board meeting since members elected six International Union vice presidents from the Teamsters United slate was held at the Unity Conference on May 8.
For the first time since he took office in 1999, General President Hoffa presided over a GEB meeting that included leaders who were not from his own slate.
The meeting was brief and did not take up a lot of business.
At the meeting and at the unity conference, Hoffa stressed unity—and our union does need unity. We need unity against contract givebacks and pension cuts. We need to unite behind the members.
As your elected Vice Presidents, our job is to be your voice. We invite your input. We plan to be out in the field, at locals and at worksites to hear your views and to report to you.
