Fred Zuckerman and Teamsters United leaders rallied with over 2,000 Teamsters and retirees in Washington, D.C. to oppose pension cuts in the Central States and to support the Keep Our Pensions Promises Act.
The rally in our nation’s capitol was organized by a network of grassroots pension committees that have formed in response to the pension crisis in the Central States.
More than 400,000 Teamsters are threatened with the worst pension cuts in Teamster history.
“Hoffa has abandoned Teamster Pensions and Teamsters and retirees are paying the price,” said Tony Jones, Local 413 President and a candidate on the Teamsters United Slate.
Demonstrators called on the Treasury Department to reject the Central States pension cut plan and rallied to support the Keep Our Pension Promises Act.
Political leaders from the Senate and the House addressed the crowd.
“Teamster retirees are leading the fight to save their pensions and we will have their back,” Fred Zuckerman said.
